Looking to upgrade my little 176GPS to the new 740s. Had my 176 for 10yrs. The 740 is a nice upgrade. Anyone had problems with the 740? The touch screen only sounds expensive to fix?

I have now used my 740 for two seasons without a problem. I really like the touch screen and the size is appropiate for my 31 foot Pearson . If you sail regularly with gloves on then there might be a problem, the screen does not react to certain gloved fingers.

Does the 740 have a magnetic door catch? I was looking at 54x and found the SD card slot was closed with a magnet. I asked Garmin for models without magnets, got a load of crap about the circuit boards affecting compasses, no answer about magnet free units.
