Does anyone have a garhauer rigid vang on their boats??? My new boat has one and although I like Garhauer products, the one thing I am not happy with is the line controls for this vang. The previous owner cleated off the bitter end of the line on a cleat on the boom after making vang changes. Is this normal on this boom vang?? I want to install a block w/cam so that I can tune the vang quicker than by uncleating and recleating the line. Also, the final block (the one I want to change out) is attached to the base of the vang near the mast. What can I do the block to get it a bit further away from the mast?? I was thinking 2 ft. of wire rigging cable going from the mast attachment to the new block??? Any thoughts???

I'll take a look

Hi Mike: My new 322 has a rigid vang (a Garhauer, I think), and next time I'm at the yard I'll give her a good look to see how it's set up. The original owner (two before me) had set the boat up so that every line leads to the cockpit, so it would surprise me if the vang control didn't do the same. I'll try to remember to pack the digital camera to snap a few frames. Pete Little Silver, NJ

Pete, that would be awsome... when are you planning on going up to Haverstraw??? do you go after wokr or just weekends??? Over the next few weekends if I can get some time, I'll drive down to see the new boat??? ( the next few weeks are dedicated to 1. putting work hours at my club and 2. working on the new boat down on City Island...AND sailing her home...I almost forgot that one...
