Don't think you can order Rigid Vang from them

Guy: JSI sell vangs but I do not think they have the Rigid Vangs. Garhauer custom makes the mounting plates for each boat. To make a pattern, you take a piece of large soder and put it around your boom and your mast. Then you trace the pattern on to a piece of paper. They return the vang to you with the plates attached and ready to mount.

Garhauer

Guy; You can fax Garhauer at (909)946-3913. I did last year when I was looking for the Garhauer Vang. I have since bought one and have just installed it on my 1984 H31. I ended up purchasing the vang from Tim Knight at UK sails in Sydne BC as being in Canada we have to pay a large exchange rate plus shipping and brokering so it was easier to get UK to do it and the price was just as good through them. You, being in the US of course, do not have this problem so you can order from Garhauer direct. You will need the mast and boom profiles for the mounting hardware and a measurement taken from the base of the mast on a 45degree angle to the bottom of the boom. Also, Garhauer reccomends measuring the distance from the top of the cabin to the underside of the boom. Also take pictures of the bottom of the boom and back of the mast. Everything helps. I used a contour gage for the boom and mast fittings and traced them on bristol board then cut them out and clearly labeled them. The vang is really nice and the fittings fit perfectly. I used a tap and die and bolted the fittings on. It only took me 1 1/2 hrs to install. Rergards, Mac

Garhauer

Guy, FYI.. I recently ordered the vang directly from Garhauer and it was promptly delivered and fit correctly. Incidently, it does not come with any of the attaching hardware.. so you'll need to get stainless bolts and, if you don't have one, a taping wrench..Pretty easy to install, but make sure you have it positioned correctly before drilling the holes. You need to place it between the boom and mast so that it has room to pull down to tighten the sail, and also pushes up enough to hold your boom...
