Last year John Devany had a great idea to have a Galveston Bay
Rendezvous. I would like to see if there is an interest in the local
Vegaterians get together one weekend. Please reply here or email me
directly.

I'd be interested in getting together one weekend for a rendezvous.
It sounds like fun.

Lori,
Sounds good. I know there are at least 3 other Vega's in the area.
Do you know any of them? I would like to contact as many as I can.

Paul,

Sounds like a lot of fun. Reading about the NW rendezvous made me a
little jealous. I'll be there if at all possible, so count me in for
the Galveston get-together.

I guess since it was my idea I can't really turn it
down! LOL I know of a few more Vegas in the area but
I don't think they are members here! Maybe we should
go on a recruiting campaign in SE Texas!

Hi Paul,

I think Emile and his wife are still here in Galveston too. May have to go over to
invite them. Also, one small correction on my boat number, its 2491 not 2991.

Lori,
As I said the more the merrier. Sorry about the number. Got carried
away with all the 29--'s. Also, Charles is on board with V27--. I
guess we should start thinking of a time and place to meet. I'm open
to suggestions.

Paul,

What about May 22-23? The following weekend is a long one and it
might work also, but I will be moving Moondance to Aransas that
weekend so I would only be available for that Friday/Saturday, then
I'll have to cut out for Aransas. As to where; maybe Offits Bayou
(liberty in Galveston anyone?)or maybe Double Bayou on the east side
of the bay.

The weekend of the 23rd is fine with me. Would that work for
everyone? What facilities do we need access to? We would miss
Memorial Day weekend and have a month to prepare. I'm not familar
with Offits Bayou, but liberty in Galveston sounds good.

Paul,

I believe Lori is from galveston and would probably know where best
to tie up or drop a hook and the best way to get in. Addition info
might be had from BARR. Their web site is
http://users2.ev1.net/~barr/local.htm Use exact full address to get
in.
I'll be leaving from Clear Lake, so maybe we can all cruise down as a
fleet if the others are interested.

I am very familiar with Offits Bayou, we can drop a hook
there very easily. The Landings Marina is over there also.
I'm not sure if they have any guest slips. What would everyone prefer,
staying in a marina or just dropping the anchor in the middle of the bayou?

Hi gang!
We've been from Clear Lake to Galveston a few times.
It's a nice days ride going out to the ship channel
and dodging the freighters on the way down to the
island. LOL We're good for dropping anchor in some
remote spot but we'll go along with whatever creature
comforts the group agrees to. A fleet sail from Clear
Lake would also be a good idea. Any weekend except
Memorial Day weekend would be good for us.
If Lori would like to make more of a trip for
herself we could also meet at Red Fish Island now that
it's above water again.
Maybe the Clear Lake 'group' could do a spring shake
down cruise soon. We wanted to go out this weekend but
it won't happen unless we get another foot of water in
the lake by Saturday.

Helpful hint of the day!!!!
I know it's already spring BUT, when you're
preparing for the winter season remember to put some
light grease inside the shift extension arm (that
connects to the combi lever). If left in the
feathered position and not lubricated it could tend to
seize up over the winter.
Good sailing to all!

Hi Lori and all,
Our vega is berthed in the Landings Marina, just next to Moody
Gardens, thru the channel past the Colonel Paddlewheel Steamer. It
is really a great marina, and yes they have quest slips available.
They have new management also, showers, pool and tennis and are very
friendly.
Their phone number is: 409-744-3625
We are currently in Dallas, but would like to meet all of you.
Usually memorial day is very busy on Offatts Bayou, but yes it is a
great place to anchor out. In S SE wind the side near Moody Gardens
is probably calmest, but watch out for the oyster bank...
Where do you guys go for short trips?
We are planning one to Lake Arthur, but right now getting away from
work is not easy.

Emile, Isabelle, Lori all Galveston Vegas,
I contacted very pleasant lady, Crystal, at Landings Marina and they
have slips available. They are $30.00 /night which includes power and
water. This sounds good to me, as we can take shore leave into
Galveston if we choose.
What I need to make reservations, if this is acceptable to everyone
is a head count, an agreement on the date and number of nights in the
slip. The weekend of the 22 is best for me. I also need for each boat
the boat's name and number the captain's name. Please email me
directly with your reservations.

Hi all!
That weekend would work for us too but any weekend
that will get the most people there IS the best one so
we'd like to hear from all those long distanse folks
first. Hey Emile & Isabelle think you could make it
down here anytime soon??
Paul, which number do you need? (Doc #583682) That
look right?
