Galvanic Isolators

Hi All,I recently installed shore power on my O25, and am wondering how important it is to have a galvanic isolator. I am on a "fresh" water lake. I can understand that they are necessary in salt water, but is the cost vs. benefit worth it for "fresh" water ? Thanks !

Galvinc isolator

I moved my O'Day 28 from fresh water to salt water about 10 months ago and I am installing a isolator. I am going through zincs at the rate of one per month. When I was in fresh water I never had a problem. That said, after researching the problem I found it could occur any where you are hooked up to shore power. Boat U.S. has a good article that explains it.Good Luckp.s. it is now required on all new boats
