Hi all,

I am about to install a small galvanic Isolator on my '91 Catalina 30 MKII.

I was thinking of installing it on the inside of my electrical panel, on the left side, which would be inches from the ground block.

Just wondering if there might be a better place that I am missing? Has anyone had any experience with this?

Not familiar with the wiring of a C30 but it is generally a good idea, for many reasons, to install the isolator at or as close to the shore power input as practicable. The reasons are many but suffice it to say that any wiring malady between where the shore power enters the boat and the install location could create a problem. It's worth whatever extra effort is required to do this properly (a good rule to live by regardless).

While you are at it, it is a good practice to test the wiring before installation to ensure their are no undetected shorts as you may inadvertently trip the isolator and never know it unless it is the new type with an active LED indicator light.
