I read about the zinc's below. My 340 doesn't have any either, but I will get them. But about those galvanic isolators, are they on all Hunters or is that an add on feature? If so where are they installed?

Zincs are located....

Lauren, We have a 1998 H376 with the galvnic isolator and a zinc. I am quit sure that the same zinc will work for you. It is an split elliptical sphere and it is located on the drive shaft. I believe it to be between the stuffing box and the cutlass bearing. West Marine calls them "Streamlined Collar Anodes" according to HOW your shaft size is "?". I would bet that you have the same shaft size as listed for our 376 at 1" Diameter. 1" x 2-1/8" long x 2-1/8" O.D. in West lists @ $8.29 part #110254. I have seen boats with multiples on their shaft. I think that this is better for shaft balance, if you have the room. I would located the split on the second anode at 90 degrees from the first anode. Have fun, Mike D Media, PA s/v Serenity H376

Isolators

Lauren, my understanding is that galvanic isolators are standard equipment on boats with shore power input. On my 380 it located immediately forward of the main electrical panel behind the panelling. Paul Bednarzyk S/V Knot Again

Not Standard

I called Hunter just last week and "Greg" of Hunter's Customer service stated that not ALL Hunters have Isolators. My suggestion is call them to find out if yours came with an Isolator.

Hunters Reply

After emailing Hunter about galvanic isolators here is thier answer. Hope this helps you. "Sir Hunter started putting a Zink saver on the incomming side of the A/C panel about one year ago. It is located behind the electrical panel inside the boat. We do not supply zinks for shafting or struts."

What do they look like?

If boats with shore power are supplied with these, what should we look for when we check them? What do they look like? Do they wear out? If they have wear, would it look deteriorated like a shft zinc? As long as I've had the boat (6 years), this is new news to me. Thanks, in advance.

Galvanic Isolator Location

On my 2000 Hunter 340, the galvanic isolator is located behind the access panel in the main cabin clothes locker. The on right behind the navigation station. (The schematics show it to be near the battery charger in the battery locker) You'll have to remove 9 or more screws on the top panel and the same on the bottom section. Mounted to the hull is a "Zinc Saver II Galvanic Isolator 30 amp", it's a black box about 5x9. Hope this helps.
