Someone was asking last week about adding a refrigerator. During the Spring, my friend(woodworker) and I tore out the old galley and we constructed a new solid teak unit with a Corian countertop and also built in the microwave. I was leery of the alcohol stove so we opted for a BBQ instead of reinstalling it. So far the microwave and BBQ fill our requirements.Thought I'd add a few photos of upgrades that was made in the Spring because it's always nice to get different views of what improvements others have done. I've been looking hard to get ideas on how others have arranged their helm station/electronics and am frustrated of lack of photos.

Hi Rick, regarding helm improvements...

does your boat have a pedestal guard? We added one to our H28 and it gave us lots of ways to add different items to make the cockpit more convenient, e.g., cockpit table, binocular, cell phone and drink holder, GPS mount, etc. Terry

Very nice!

A very clean-cut well organized galley. The thing that really caught my eye was the Corian countertop. Can you give us more details on how you did this? I have never replaced a countertop on the boat or at home, and don't know the details on measuring, cutting, and installing. Any more photos would really help.

Thanks Rick

Your galley layout is very similar to my 1990 H33.5. Again, your work looks beautiful. We have an Orion gas stove and oven (non-pressurized), and like it very much. I bought a small microwave a few years ago and we never used it, so now it belongs to my son. Last year we tried a toaster oven/broiler, and used it a couple times, but now it is in the kitchen at home. I think the best two appliances I added was a 5-cup coffee maker and a small pop-up toaster. Of course you need 115 VAC to use them, but then we don't cook except at dock-side, and if at anchor (never) we rough it. :) We converted the ice box to refrigeration and that works well for us except that it needs a second opening on the counter-top where we store cans of beer and pop, way in on the left side (it is a huge ice-box). If I do the mod as you have, I'll take photos along the way and post. Thanks again for your input. My website is linked below..... Ken
