My old (77) Cat 22 came with a "galley" that can slide into the end of the st'bd quarter berth. I do not use this as it is cumbersome and takes up a huge amount of storage space. I also don't have the space to store it ashore, and I think I would like to be rid of it altogether. Will parting with this severly reduce the re-sale value of my boat? Are these sought after by others? Thanks.

Peter Go to the C22 Assoc. website www.catalina22.org and ask there. There may be someone who wants one. Stu

Not really and Yes

Peter your will not really notice the price cut about not having a galley, but many people want them I would put an offer out on this forum as well as list it on ebay it will sell. the only problem is shipping as they are heavy. Herb

Well...

I currently sail a Clipper Marine, but I've been wanting to move to a C22 for a few years now. Personally, I love the sliding galley, and would use it a lot as I overnight about 3-4 nights a week. As a future C22 buyer, I can honestly say that a C22 thats missing the galley would seriously effect what I would be willing to pay for the boat, and could well be the deciding factor if I were looking at more than one C22 at the time. If you do decide to sell it, you will have no trouble finding a buyer. I know of several folks who have bought C22's without the galley and then had difficulty getting their hands on a used one as there is a fair demend for them. Food for thought.

Waste of space

The sliding galley probably was a good thing to have in the seventies. I threw mine out and use the space for additional storage. I have a portable camp stove, collapsable water tank, and a host of other camping supplies that fit nicer and are probably safer to use on the boat. Think about this... How much is that sliding galley really going to increase the selling price of your boat anyway? We're talking less than $8000 for a used C-22 and trailer and most are less than that. Don't miss mine at all! C-22 Windsocket #2226

Keep it in storage

I would hold on to the galley as a perspective buyer will prefer a boat with a galley over one that does not have one. Find a place to keep it (garage) and then you can have the added storage space on your boat. Regards, Ted

hi peter, it took me a full year to find my galley, it cost me $300.00 used and i had to overhaul it before i could use it. they are no longer made and scarce as frog feathers, so don't throw it away, keep it,sell it, or give it to somone that wants one. john
