I just broke the galley salt water foot pump so I suppose I need to replace it. The boat is an 1987 30 foot Cat. Does anyone know where I would get a replacement, how to replace the pump and is it a job that a couple of novices can do without doing too much damage. Thanks everyone.

Whale Pump

I have an '82 C30. The foot pump looks like the Whale Gusher MK 3 Galley Foot Pump, available at both West Marine (catalog item 135137) and Sailnet (model WHAGP0550). Looks easy to replace to me. A couple bolts to mount it and hose clamps on the intake and outlet hoses. For additional access in this area (under the sink), you could consider installing a deck plate (West Marine item 139647) through the fiberglass near where the foot pump is located (only if really necessary). That is assuming you can't get your arm through the aft engine access door and over to where the pump is located, but stick your arm in and see how it is.

leaky pump

I need to replace mine as well- very handy. FWIW, this is a potential source of major leaks. While we should always close seacocks when away, when I first got my boat, I was off on my maiden sail and discovered to my horror that this pump was leaking badly. I caught it in time, but a word to the wise...
