I have a head and galley faucet that look original (25 years young). Time to replace as they leak, won't shut off, and look like cr*p. Previous PO did not use them much I think. Besides the fact that, I will have to turn into a midget with long double jointed arms and superman vision... Question for you. When I finally get these things pulled out... can I use some upscale faucets like they have in Lowes... without getting into a corrosion problem? I realize they may be a bugger to hook back up with existing plumbing. I am sure I can cross that bridge when I come to it. Any Comments? Rich

If you want boat faucets, google Fynspray. Wide range of options. If you can afford the freight, that's the way to go. Lowes will be cheaper and I found all I need in the plumbing department.

Rich, unless you get gold plated fixtures they will all look bad in ten

years. Delta, Moen, Price-Pfister, American Standard are all good brands if you read the labels. They all produce multiple grades. Several carry "Lifetime" finish warranties. As to hook-ups, it always looks easy when they show and tell at the Saturday morning "how-to" sessions but you need to be small and lithe most of the time.

Lowes or Home Depot will do fine.

you'll find all you need there.

Look at..

Look at what are called "bar faucets" they are a perfect size for a boat sink and have 4" centers for the holes. American Standard makes a decent looking bar faucet that Home Depot sells for $44.00 it has the right reach and the scale for a small single bowl boat sink is just about perfect.. See link:

I take it you have pressure water?

We don't and still have the bronze faucets from 1961 that came on the boat. The Admiral took some Brasso and Neverdull to them Sunday and they look brand new. When they quit pumping we just put in new leather packing.

Plastimo

They sound cheap but so far I like the quality. I bought one of their more expensive units but they have some for under $100. They are chrome plated brass. Here is the one I bought. http://www.yachtsupplydepot.com/cabin-galley-and-head/faucets/plastimo-straight-mixer/shower-tap-chrome-p39468/prod_22804.html http://www.yachtsupplydepot.com/index.php?page=1&act=viewCat&catId=171

Replaced my galley faucet with a nice single handle chrome Moen (or perhaps Delta). Fit perfectly and the price was right. If it corrodes in 5-10 years....I'll replace it. NP! Steph

is where I found what I needed. My faucets double as a shower pull out handle, and the mixer is just a small handled mixer. Did not have to change the size of the holes in the glass, but Ross is right, you have to be small, or very flexable to install anything in the room given, on mine anyway.

Thanks for the info...

It is good to know I don't have to pay twice as much... with 2 to choose from at a Marine store. Lowes it is... actually I have found HD in my area to be very helpful when it comes to plumbing. The dude running around the department is very knowledgeable in that area. Guess I should replace the in-line filter... start with the galley sink, as that has the most room. Then move on into the head where I am sure I will need a McIver set-up of mirrors. I might need to look someplace else for the head faucet as Kerry suggests... as I have the same shower set-up. Thanks for your input,

easy

After messing around with a faucet wrench, and trying to contort my old body into positions it doesn't want to go for about 15 minutes, it's easy if you remove the sinks. Doing so allows you to rebed them.

RV dealers

Check out an RV dealer or catalog, or on-line. I got mine at an RV dealer for $20.00 and it was an easy replacement.
