I sail/boat on the Trent Waterway. Beautiful, but for bridges go i from one lake to another, enjoying the whole rather than in-part. Remedy: easy mast down-n'-up rig. Had one of the best, still an inconvenience.Alternative: Chop the top off of the mast at 17' to boat under ALL bridges with 22' clearance!! Amazing! I now go where few sail-boats dare to go: un-impeded and without nuisance. With a custom tailored main, semi-square top, it works well. However i still have my original main that i would like to experiment with, and make it into a Gaff or Gunter rig to pick up some of the sail area sacrificed. Not regretted in the least. But i'm a project kind-a-guy.Anyone with Gaff experience? Is this practial/do-able? Comments? Advice? Book stuff? Any and all will be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Roger
