I just replaced my Fynspray pump in the head sink with a brand new pump. Should I expect the water to stay primed right up to the bottom of the pump shaft or is it common for the water to fall 3-4"? At this point I need to pump approx 4x's to bring the water up to start the flow. I don't know if this normal or if I should start problem solving.

I've rebuilt the seals in my pump and doubt it will be 100% air tight that would be required to hold water above the level it will naturally seek in your ice box. It sounds like what you are seeing is normal. Is this pump to drain your icebox or other? These pumps are extremely expensive for a replacement but I found an outfit that sells a seal kit allowing you to rebuild it.
The pump I replaced is for the head sink. I do have another one for the ice box pump tho. I was able to actually re-pack the plumber seal in the shaft and soak the plastic valve in vinegar to get the old one working just perfect. I will use that as a spare, just in case. I was hoping that the new pump would hold the prime better than it is so I would not have to pump 3-4 times while soap is on my hands. I guess perhaps an in-line ck valve could work?????
