I had dinner with a sailing friend over the weekend who suggested I check the forestay shroud, inside the roller furling. He said that they tend to suffer from a lack of fresh air and sunlight, being stuck inside the roller furling.Sure enough, when I removed the shroud, it had begun to rust, where as the port and starboard shrouds are perfect (its a 2002, H260). I will now brush the forestay shroud, to remove the rust, and coat with anhydrous lanolin to water proof.I thought this info might be useful to others. Also, I was surprised to find a turnbuckle inside the roller furling attached to the lower end of the forestay. Even more surprising was the fact that the turnbuckle was missing its clevis pins to hold the turnbuckle (and forestay) in place (see attached picture).
