The ever shrinking world... I think I read somwhere that everyone in
the world is connected within six "chains of connection" - you know:
someone who knows someone who knows someone...etc. The first Vega I
ever set eyes on was Jim Ranti's Tarka at Pointe Claire Yacht Club in
Montreal in the early seventies. I later delivered a Vega from
Toronto to Montreal (circa 1975) and discovered what a great boat it
was. We bought our Vega in 1991 (by this time I was in Nova Scotia).
About four or five years ago my wife and I were in Mystic for the
WoodenBoat show and we visited with Jim Ranti on Tarka in a marina
somewhere around Stonington, I think. Its good to hear Tarka is
still "in the fleet".

Hi All!,

If you folks are thinking about organizing a rendezvous you may want to
consider the Conanicut Marina in Jamestown, RI.

We, the AlbinCruisers List, had a great time there in late July when we
held our Rendezvous 2000. Right across from Newport(available by water
shuttle) it had very good facilities and was a short walk to restaurants
and shops(be forewarned, the supermarket and liquor store are a good walk
up and down a hill.)

If you make arrangements early they may be able to put you all
together. We had 6 Albin 25's all in a row with another grouping of 27's
on another dock. Lots of drive in visitors too!

Great time was had by all. Email me if you would like more
info. Rendezvous 2001 is tentatively being setup in New London, CT.

I agree, Tim, that Jamestown is a great place to rendezvous! The five
summers that we spent aboard "Privateer Chance" 1879 we had a mooring on
the other side of Conanicut Island (west shore).

I mentioned Block Island, which is a great place to cruise to, but can
very often be so crowded that having a number of vessels together could
be a problem.

I have a bit more info about the AlbinCruisers 2001 Rendezvous.
Going to be held July 20-22 at Crockers Boat Yard, New London CT.
Don't know what the pricing is yet but that should be coming
shortly. Maybe the AlbinCruisers List and the AlbinVega List should
have a joint Rendezvous. So far there are 5 Albin 25's and 2 Albin
27's planning to attend. There may even be a couple of 43's
coming. Could be a real Swedish invasion!

Owners on our list have been scheduling their own rendezvous' in their
home areas. There was one in the Chesapeake area a couple of months
ago, one planned for somewhere in Florida, and another is planned for the
Canadian Canal System in Kingston. Maybe you folks could do the
same type of thing.
