Has anyone had any experience using Krylon Fusion spray paint for either the cove stripe or the boot top? Some time ago I read about several people who used Fusion for this and were favorably impressed. Thank you...

I don't think I would use it for that but I have used it on plastic parts on-board and it lasts about 3-4 years before beginning to fade, which is about 2 years more than most can spray paints... For a cheap can paint the Krylon fusion is pretty decent stuff just not what I would choose for a boot or cove.
Painting a cove or boot is TEDIOUS. I would use a two pack paint like Perfection at a minimum but then again I don't like to do jobs that big every few years. I just finished waxing a Cape Dory 36 today that has its original 1979 gelcoat and a 1986 Imron cove stripe. The Imron looks as good today as it did in 1986...

Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm just trying to figure out a more reasonable way to do the cove stripe and trying to avoid the cost of using an LPU. I have a rather wide cove on the Nonsuch, so that rules out the use of vinyl tape.

IIRC Hinterholler gelcoated the cove? Why not recondition the gelcoat? The navy blue should recondition to like new...

I've used your buffing technique quite successfully on the topsides of Serenity. When it came to the cove stripe, despite the fact that I used wet sanding and followed up with the Presta products I was unable to remove a generalized white blush like discoloration from the blue cove stripe gelcoat. Any ideas?
