um, starter button?

Most marine diesels have a separate start button beside the key. Are congratulations in order for your new boat? Paul sv Escape Artist

CAN YOU PROVIDE MORE INFO?...

Lionel, neither my H28 (previous boat) nor my P42 (current boat) have an ignition switch fuse, that I'm aware of. The H28 has a starter button that you press at the cockpit control station. A key is used to start the propulsion engine on my P42, just like on a car. Is this a new boat for you? On my P42 there is a starter battery switch that must be on before it will start, but the H28 would start whether the DC was on or not (at the panel, that is). It must be wired direct, just like the auto bilge switch/pump. Is this a new problem for you? What model boat do you have, and what is its history, as best as you can tell? Regards, Terry S/V Belle-Vie

Fuse Location

There is a fuse for the ignition system. On my 33.5, it is located in the engine compartment as part of the wiring bundle coming/going to the engine. Mine has a spare fuse inside the fusr holder.

Which Yanmar?

On the 2QM/3QM series there is a plastic cover over a fuse mounted on the aft bell-housing. It is to port of the centerline I think. When that fuse blows there is no path to the solenoid. See RED wire in photo.

Painted fuse box w/ spare fuse

Just saw your question and I hope you have it fixed by now but this may help if not. On the port side of the engine slightly aft of center is a bundle of wires (unfortunately they are all painted grey). In this bundle is a plastic 2 inch fuse box(also painted grey) that contains the fuse in question and a spare. Simply untape the bundle, replace the old fuse with the spare and I recommend buying another replacement fuse as soon as possible. Good luck.
