Fuse Box?

I have a 2000 Hunter 320. Is there a fuse box located on this boat anywhere where I can check for blown fuses?

Check inside the electrical panel...

The front of the panel probably unscrews, there may be some inline fuses within for things like the stereo. On the 340 there are a few fuses/breakers on the battery selector switch in the aft starboard side cockpit locker, which fuse in particular are you looking for?

P.S.

Forgot to add that you should unplug from shore power and shut off batteries BEFORE poking around in the electrical box...

Miles!

Looking specifically for the 12V DC Aux. plug fuse. When I plug my cell phone in, I get no juice. Thanks. Bob

There probably is one...

Most of the 12v outlets do have an inline fuse somewhere. Depending on how it was run you might need to have some of the breakers on to get power to it. Has it ever worked or is this a new thing? If it's the plug by the nav. station I'd take a peek in the electric box. Should be fairly easy to trace the wire since they're so close. I'd say it's highly unlikely there's a problem with the wire itself but check both ends to be sure they are connected. Might be a blown fuse or maybe a breaker needs to be on. I usually go back and check the simple stuff LAST after tearing half the boat apart, it's more fun that way!

Thanks Miles

There appears to be an area by the batteries that has a few screws that can be taken off and HOPEFULLY, there will be a handy little bunch of fuses there. My outlet is in the Nav Panel and I tried turning all of the breakers on to see if that was it, but to no avail. This is a new problem. I think I heard something pop like a breaker when I was attempting to plug in a dual plug outlet that was cheap and I truly think I blew a fuse cause everything else works fine. Thanks for your help. Bob

A "pop" does sound like a fuse...

At least on my 340 there are a number of inline fuses behind the breaker panel, might check there too if the you don't see it behind the battery switch. Sometimes the male end of the plug has a fuse inside it too, you might see if the plug works in your car. Good luck!

12VDC fuse

Bob, there is a fuse (3amp I think) that is an in-line fuse on the 12VDC on the panel. If you open the panel (two screws at top), the panel hinges down, you will see a yellow (on my boat) inline fuse holder. Open it up, replace the fuse and you should be good to go. The area by the batteries is only a cover for the three way switch and windlass power switch (if you have one). Regards. Bruce Neon Moon

Miles / Bruce Thanks!

Thanks to the both of you for helping me out. Went down to the boat last night and sure enough, unscrewed the Nav. Panel and the 12V DC Aux. plug inline fuse was really easy to find. Blown to the point where it was in two pieces. Now, of course I bought the wrong fuses (the plug-in type instead of the long tube type) But hey, what do you expect from a bean counter!!!! Just gives me another excuse to go back down tonight. Once again, this website is chocked full of great help and advice from fellow sailors. You saved me a very expensive service call for about a $1 fuse. Thanks again! Bob S/V "Never Say Never"
