Does anyone have any experience with the Furuno 1623 2.2kw radar system? Will be installing a radar on our 28'O'Day this spring. This one sems to fit the bill for a relatively inexpensive unit but we are open to alternatives. We sail the Maine coast and our main application is to watch out for other boats within 1-3 miles when in fog. While it will be a backup for navigation we also have a Garmin chartplotter. -Ron

Furuno 1722C

is what I have on my O'Day 35. I think Furuno has replced it now with the 1723C. I went with it because of the colour display and the combined radar and chartplotter. But its double the price of the 1623.
