Quick question - I'm internet shopping for a new networked GPS/ff/radar system. The Raymarine E80 I've seen in person - and the display is fab - very bright and sharp. But I really perfer the Furuno Navnet features (particular the ability to do integration with a PC via ethernet). Question is - what do you think of the Furuno 1720 (7") and 1920 (10") displays. Are they they any good?

Hi Taylor - I don't have any personal experience with the 1720 or 1920 Furuno displays but a colleague here at work said they aren't as bright and the resolution isn't as good as Raymarine's E-series display (the E is considerably brighter than the C). Once Raymarine finally starts shipping Raytech v6.0 software (couple weeks) you will be able to integrate with a PC via ethernet. Hope this helps, Trevor

How about the Ray A65 - is that as bright as the E80? I've just been given a stricter budget, which means I'm sticking with my old radar for another few years.

Ray 120

Last August we installed a new Raymarine E-120 (we have an owner who needed a larger screen because of vision). Our experience has been nothing but the best. Good vision day & nite, easy to use, low amps. If you have any thoughts of mounting at the helm, the E-80 is sufficient. I would not get a screen smaller than the E-80. I bought mine new in orginal box on e-bay for about a 30% discount off list. You will also need the GPS antenna. You will have no regrets with a Raymarine.
