Thanks for the reply, I have one question, WHAT CABLE ??? All we have is a Line(rope) about 3/8 in diameter that is run thru a small clete. It has a stop knot on the end and about 18 to 24 inches are out of the hole. this is located on the 'threshold' of the companionway. If there is a cable of any kind it is no longer there. the rod we put down the hole is approx. 1/2" in diameter, i am not sure anything much bigger would fit, because of the rope. strength did not seem to be an issue as I said it felt like we were moving beyond, or penetrating something, could we be in soft wood?? does any one have any comments about rudder replacement and/or improvement? We also seem to have an issue with losing steerage in strong winds the boat just will not turn. needless to say this has caused a couple of exciting moments, is this because of the stuck up centerboard? has anyone one added extra balast to their 23? would this help in any way to create a more stable ride? thanks for the help!!!
