CDI for small boats

Or so I've read. There's a lot on this in the Archives on this web site. Also check the West Marine catalog, which may have an article on furlings. Self-furling will change your life. Next you can go to spinnaker, which is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.

CDI works well.

I purchased a 23.5 this fall with a CDI Flexible Furler 2. The furler works pretty good. The only thing I would say is to find out what kind of modifications you will need with any existing jib to make the sail fit the furler.

Maybe a home made one?

It seems that all of my friends now have the home made PVF roller reefer/furler as described on the Compac owners web site. I bet if you build it you won't go back and you won't pay for a commercially made one either. I have yet to see anyone put the pvc system on their boat and not be really happy with it. One friend even took his old CDI furler off and built a PVC system because it made it easier to raise the mast.
