I'm getting ready to replace my headsail furling line. Big boat, lots of blocks and deck organizers to get it back to the cockpit. I've always used a smooth 3/8" double braid for this job. And I do it by hand (no winch). But I was surprised to see one of my favorite hand lines Regatta braid (NER) spec'd for the job. Not sure that would run well through all the sheaves. So question:

What is your favorite headsail furling line? Why?

(Have to stay with 3/8" to get it all on the drum)

Stay Set, 3/8" works just fine. I have a swivel block on the bow pulpit and Johnson bullet eyes on my stanchions, led to swivel block on the pushpit. Johnson cleat on the pushpit, no ratchet blocks. No need to buy more expensive line than that. Good luck.

Thanks folks. It seems like the most important factor is a nice smooth cover on the line to help it pass through the sheaves.

Gunni,

Regatta braid is one of the best mid-grade lines to run through blocks and sheaves. Its turns VERY well, and does not twist or hockle.

I just love my Regatta braid jib sheets. Best hand of any line on the boat. Grips a winch drum like it is glued on.
