I am interested in installing a furling jib on my 1983 Catalina 22. I have checked the web and have found several makes/models and am a bit confused by all the options. National Sails offers a Roller Furling Package including sails, while others like Harken offer types of Furlers without sails, and others offer sails. I'm not into racing, just want something simple and reliable for solo sailing. Any good suggestions on whether to go with a complete package, recommended jib size, reefing features ? Thanks, Brian

Roller furling system

I just purchased a Brand New 22' Mark ll from Catalina and had Roller Furling installed on it. It works great, and it incorporates the standard jib that comes with the boat. If you go to Catalina's website they can fill you in on all the details. www.catalina.net Mine rolls up like a window shade and trailers nicely without having to take it apart when lashed to the mast with bungie cords. C-22 Furler

You will love a furler!! I single-hand almost exclusively. I have a Flexible Furler 2 with a 155 genoa. It was NOT part of a package; it was mad for my boat. Small boats seem to get fussy when adding big-boat options, so I probably would not buy a package. But, if you go to Planet Catalina, you will find what you need for a Catalina 22. I race, day-sail and cruise with mine. Good luck and have fun. the Pirate
