Nashla, I'm not sure what you are asking.
There are 2 basic kinds of furlers: 1) Wire luff furler. This has a wire running up the luff of the headsail, and a swivel at the top, drum at bottom, set just behind the forestay. The sail basically winds around the wire in the luff. 2) foil based furler. These furlers use some form of foil to fit over the forestay, with drum at bottom. With trailerable boats, these foils are usually some form of PVC material which remains flexible. On bigger boats, they are aluminum extrusions. Most trailerable boats use a CDI Flexible Furler, or a Schaefer Snap Furl.
So, are you asking about a wire that runs up a pocket in the luff of the jib, or are you asking about your forestay that the furler foil rides over?
