Where can I find a new cable for my macgregor 26M furling jib? It runs the length of the jib support and is 26'9" long.

Thanks Sumner. I'll call them tomorrow. I posted the question after trying to navigate their catalog. It would be nice if they got their online act together.
Don't all mac's use CDI furlers? There's a parts diagram and list for each unit on the CDI site. By "cable" do you mean the furling unit's internal halyard? Or the wire forestay that supports the drum and foil and is part of the boat's standing rigging. There's no need to go to blue water yachts... there's a CDI Dealer in BC.. the phone number is listed on the CDI site. If it's the forestay.... any rigging shop will make you one of those.

There are 2 basic kinds of furlers: 1) Wire luff furler. This has a wire running up the luff of the headsail, and a swivel at the top, drum at bottom, set just behind the forestay. The sail basically winds around the wire in the luff. 2) foil based furler. These furlers use some form of foil to fit over the forestay, with drum at bottom. With trailerable boats, these foils are usually some form of PVC material which remains flexible. On bigger boats, they are aluminum extrusions. Most trailerable boats use a CDI Flexible Furler, or a Schaefer Snap Furl.
So, are you asking about a wire that runs up a pocket in the luff of the jib, or are you asking about your forestay that the furler foil rides over?

Ya. Probably 3/8. It's one size bigger than the stock cable. Hopefully this one won't fray so badly.
FYI , the stock forestay cable was 1/8 inch d, you probably have 5/32. Your frayed cable was likely at the top and you should be careful with this same spot especially for a trailer sailed boat where the mast gets set up more often. Just going to the larger cable may not solve what caused the cable to fray in the first place. You might call BWY and ask them about the proper way to toggle with the rotating mast (or maybe you already did this). The toggle allows the cable interface to bend any way without putting a point load on the cable where it goes from flexible to rigid. This becomes even more important with the rotating mast and Im not sure how its done since I dont have a rotating mast.
