Furlex on the mast

I have a halyard that comes out of the mast about 5 or 6 feet up down to a block and the cam cleat into the cockpit. Figure it has to do with the foresail but not sure what it is for. We recently purchased this 2003 Hunter 420 after owning a Santana 26. So trying to learn the bigger boat stuff. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Jib sail

Sounds like it is the jib sail hoisting halyard.

A friend that has a Hunter 45 thinks it is to drop the furling mainsail for when you need to take it down for repair or some other reason.
