removehtml]I currently have a Hood 705DL furler that I am told can be updated to a 707SL furler/reefer. This requires new headstay extrusions that can be put on the old headstay. My question is if anyone has made a switch without dropping the mast and how did you do it?Error: Error: expected [/URL], but found [/removehtml] instead[/removehtml]

You don't need to drop the mast

You will have to go up to the top in a bosn's chair. Use a halyard or two for temporary support, then remove the old one and install the new one.

did it on a catalina 30

You don't need to replace the foil but you should replace the head stay . Depends on the rig if you can do it with mast up I did mine mast up . Made a world of difference . Good luck

Jeff: I called Hood customer service and was told the switch from DL to SL for the 705DL isn't available. It is for the 800 and 900 furlers. They now have the 707SL furler/reefer that they will swap out for $795.00. They just want the drum back from the old furler.
