Hi all!....the Sirius I bought recently came with a foresail furler, but the foil is damaged and unusable.
I priced a new foil for this furler (Schaefer CF-500) and almost fell over with the price(s) given...500-800 dollars...I can buy a brand new CF-500 for 1100 dollars!
Been looking at the Profurl C260 which runs 750 dollars complete.
Any of you Sirius 21 owners or others have a preference or experience with this furler or any others you might recommend...that will not empty my bank account!
Many thanks!
Brent

We had a CDI flexible.furler on our Catalina 22. Worked well. has its own internal halyard. No issues with trailering. doesn't need to be dismantled to prevent foil damage. All I did was add a 2x4 support (for the furler drum) to a wood mast support that sat on on the pulpit when trailering Added bonus was their head office is a couple miles from my house in Wpg.

Long time CDI furler own . Many folks say the sail shape of a CDI furler is a compromise . I can understand why they would say that . The furling extrusion is a mallable plastic unless significant forestay tension is present . The CDI is a tough unit . I find it easier to drop the mast after removing the genoa . For us ,it was monet well spent .

CDI is probably the least expensive of all of them. It uses their own internal halyard system and your existing jib halyard becomes obsolete. They work well and if you want to spend more money, you can get the ball bearing drum which assures it even works better (or more smoothly), but without it, it is fine. Schaefer Snap Furl is another furling system that has a flexible furler so raising and lowering the mast causes no problems to the extrusion (as apposed to an aluminum one, which can bend if you aren't careful). The Snap Furl uses you own halyard. Selden Mast has a small boat furler which they refer to as Furlex. It is the most sophisticated and best working system, but the extrusion is aluminum and so more vulnerable to those who raise and lower their mast more frequently. But, it is a great system and will last the longest.
