Well, I hate to say it, but it is the 21st century. I am throwing in towel on hanks and going furler. Any of you that have done a re-fit on similar vessel (hunter 27 tm 1981 ), I could use some input. dave
I have a CDI flexible furler on my 27'. While I did not install it, I took the mast down a few years ago to replace some of the rigging. It was simple enough to remove and to reinstall (which was just about the same as installing it new). It always helps to have a friend around to lend an extra hand or two.
If your 27' has the same bow pulpit as mine, you may need to have the little cross bar removed at the tip. Mine was very obviously cut and re-welded further forward to make room for the drum. Make sure to measure everything to ensure that whichever furler you choose will fit properly.
