Furler q’s

Hello everyone.
I am helping a friend on his boat and I am perplexed, did they ever make a furler without a stay inside???
His foil is really small diameter and it doesn’t seem to have a stay!!!

Yes. The jib had a wire luff that served as the stay.

Best bet is to install a new headstay and furler.

Installing a new one is an option. On an old boat some might not want to spend the money on a new one...

Just getting it to work would be "good enough"...

Could be a Hyde Sreamstay or a Stearns,both popular in the 70s,both replaced the stay.

I have a Hyde stream stay II on my 78 Hunter 27 and the track serves as the actual forestay. It has given me no trouble (knock on wood) The only issue is make sure that there are no kinks in the track or you’ll have difficulty raising and or lowering your jib. Should the situation arise.
