We have the in-laws with us this weekend. had a great day on the water yesterday, just waiting for everyone to wake up this morning then I think we'll go back out. There must be fires close by though, the smoke was very thick by sunset last night, and we all have a fine layer of ash on our boats this morning.
at some point today the mast comes down so we can upgrade to roller furler!

Sounds like an exciting day on the boat. Playing on the water, adding new gear to the sailing system. No wonder your up and giddy. Maybe it is time to bang some pans and get the sleepy heads going. The breezes wait for no man , or woman.

Our first venture into taking my mother-in-law sailing was a dismal failure. Unthinkingly we picked her up in St Lucia and went windward side of St. Vincent in relatively calm weather, to Bequia. Well, it must not have seemed calm to her as she quickly made friends with the bucket.
Thereafter the boat became a floating hotel room, from which she enjoyed other water sports and very short trips in the lee of whatever island she arrived on.

There are so many wild fires burning these days. We are in Salmon Arm visiting for a few days and can hardly see across the lake due to smoke but have no ash. Where are you sailing?

I'm on Flathead lake. M-I-L thoroughly enjoyed herself, but we probably stayed out too long. The winds this morning didn't really get going, and they decided to head home about 8:30. So we just finished up some projects and got the mast down. So now the sail cover, forestay and sails are off with the sailmaker. The new 100W solar panel is mounted and doing it's thing (I had all the wiring completed last weekend, so all I had to do was plug in). The sun was just baking us in the marina, and hardly any wind so we headed home after getting all that sorted out. Now to work on some home projects and try to cool off.
