I'm the proud new owner of a 1986 C27 TR. I'm extremely excited. I've moved up from a 25 foot O'DAY. Great boat, but I wanted an inboard diesel, a full keel, and standing head room.
One thing that needs immediate attention is the trottle. The boat has wheel steering. The trottle operates for the full range from "idle" to "full trottle". It will, however, not stay but at any setting. Once I let go of the trottle, it immediately goes back to idle. Is this a easy "fix it yourself" project? Has anyone had this problem?

Welcome

Your symptoms indicate two possibilities, and they are both fixable by you:

1. Binnacle remove compass and tighten the throttle bolt (see www.edsonmarine.com)

2. Check connection at engine end, see: www.marinedieseldirect.com

Learn to find the "parts" catalogs and diagrams for your engine, keep working on the engine yourself, and you'll do just fine.

Congratulations on your new boat and welcome to this forum.
