full keel boats

hello all

I bought a full keel boat called a kittiwake... it is designed by carl alberg... I am seeking other people who own kittiwakes or similar sailboat that carl alberg designed... I am looking for advice, comments, and helpful tips or improvements for these types of sailboats...

I have the kittiwake registry page already... thank you.... I am mainly looking for other people who own a kittiwake 23 or seacoast 23 or similar boats... looking for others who might have ideas or solutions for anything that comes up on my new boat...

The Kittiwake is pretty and a good stable sailing boat. I have a Bristol Corinthian, also by Alberg, that is nearly the same design, except smaller. There is a Kittiwake at our Marina, and I have sailed races against it. They are good light wind boats, for being full keelers, and can also handle wind and waves as well as larger boats can. The engine well is a nice feature. I use a light weight 2 horse to get out of the marina, and then pull the engine out and stow it in the cabin. I have a plug that fills the hole, and the boat then sails with no drag from the motor or well.

I also have a Privateer 26 that I converted to a schooner rig. The Privateer was made by Kenner in Arkansas, same as the Kittiwake. The fiberglass layup is excellent, and strong.

Many years ago, I had an Alberg Sea Sprite 23-footer. Similar hull to the Kittewake, but a bit smaller interior. It was the best sailing boat I ever owned. It heeled easily to 20-25 degrees, but then would just stay in the groove. You could sail it in any weather. I loved that little boat. Only complaint I had was the low aspect ratio boom would not allow the installation of a bimini, a real requirement here on the Chesapeake during summer. Good luck with the Kittiwake.

I wonder how similar your boat is to something like an Ensign or it's sister, the Electra? Full keels, about the same size, similar design and vintage. Lots of Ensigns still sailing.
