fuel tank tie down catalina 30,1976

Under my aft berth the fuel tank is without tie downstraps, there doesn't seem to be much room for any tank movement but the most recent survey mentioned this as a potential problem,any suggestions or commentsthanks Rick Arnold s/v Arrow

My Tank is Glassed In

I've got a 1977 C-30, hull #630. At first I had the same concern about no tie downs, but the tank is glassed in pretty good...nothing to worry about.

Screwed down.

My 84 Catalina 30 has 2 tabs on each side which secure the tank to the hull with screws. Look at the bottom of the tank on both sides.

Concur with Allen

Glassed in and feels secure when you try to move it. I have a 1977 also. I had a survey done last year for insurance. Before I had it done I bougt a book How to Survey Fiberglass Sailboats. I went through the survey with the fellow and challenged some of his comments based on my reading and understanding of things marine. He waffled and said that he looks at so many types of boats he gets them mixed up. Not encourging but he has the title not me.
