My fuel tank sender unit has passed away - does anyone know where they might be available? My boat is a 1988 C30 w/M18 Universal diesel. Thanks.

Try this first

Before you swap out the sender, try something. The previous owner of my 1984 C30 complained that he had to swap out the sender almost every year, and sure enough when I took over, the guage did not work. However, after some investigation, I discovered that the sender was not at fault. Occassionally the guage itself simply sticks at E. A simple rap with the head of a screwdriver fixes it. Don't know if this will help, but it's worth a try.

Another suggestion

Our 84 Cat 30 had a nonfunctional gauge when we bought it 10 years ago. Went to a local auto parts store and bought an universal sender (adjustable) for autos. Installed it (screw holes even lined up), it worked, and has for 10 years. Real cheap too!

Catalina Parts has them

I replaced mine last year and was able to get the replacement from Catalina Parts dept. for about $25.

fuel gauge sender

I have a C-27, 1983. Last season my auge stopped working. I simply cleaned the corrosion from ALL the contact points... works fine.

Fuel gauge

Mine worked but would not read correctly when I bought my boat. (showed a half tank at full) I purchased a Universal gauge and sender from West Marine for $40. Have had no problems since. You can by the sender and gauge seperate as well for around $25 each. They are very easy to install.
