Does anyone know where I can buy an inspection port / cover for my aluminum fuel tank? Thanks, Rob

fuel tank port

Rob, I think you can buy those inspection ports at any marine hardware store. All you have to do is cut a hole, drill the screw holes, put some sealant around, use self-tapping screws and your set.

But don't leave the cuttings in the tank.

Be sure to run your fuel low and then clean all the mess inside the tank. Only then should you fit the port in place. But you knew that.

Thanks. I have removed the tank from the boat and will be cleaning it. The only port I have come across are plastic. Will these be sufficient? Do they make Aluminum ones anywhere?

You can make one

Plastic will work with diesel. That's what I use but you can have a shop make a oval plate that requires tapped bolts and a gasket. These aren't readily removable for inspections but are common. I've also seen a oval model that is pre-built with fasteners ready to go. I don't have the link though. Try google.

If you want a aluminum one, here is a place

This is a heavy duty unit. You can use it on holding tanks, water tanks, or fuel tanks. I bought one for my holding tank, and it works great. But as I have said above, it is really heavy duty.
