I know some time ago there was aposting on fuel tanks that will fit the fuel locker for the 222. I am looking for a 6 gal that will fit if anyone know onf one that fits it will be appreciated.

Fuel Tanks for O'Day 222
I am aware of two choices of 6-galon tanks that fit in the lazarette of the OD 222: 1. The typical OMC metal 6-gal. tank. (See Model 214809 on page 260 of 2006 West Marine Master Catalog.) 2. The Tempo Valu6 Plastic Tank - for about 1/5 the cost of the above. (See Item 300751 on Page 38 of Defender's 2006 "Marine Buyers Guide" ((catalog)).) Link submitted.

Snug but fits nice.
Hi jon The 6-gal plastic tank that came with the spare 5 hp Honda 4-stroke fits nicely in the lazarette so I bought the adaptor for the 5 hp Nissan since that motor's tank was only 3-gal and was sloppy in the lazarette. I love this 222.

6 Gal. plastic fuel tank for the O'Days
The only plasic 6 gal. gas tank that will fit in the compartments of O'Day 222 or O'Day 25 and 26, is the OMC Dura Tank that comes with Johnson and Evenrudes. I bought my tank from a local Marine dealer in my area for under $40.00. My tank has no guage, but I really didn't need one anyway. I'll never use a metal tank again after mine rusted and leaked gas, which ate away the self bailing cockpit hose causing gas to get into my bilge. It took a long time to get that gas smell out of my cabin.
