Fuel supply problem

I recently purchased an O'Day 322. Since I've owned the boat I have not been able to run the engine off the port side tank. I took a fuel sample of the port side fuel and found it to be completely contaminated. I just had both tanks professinally cleaned out and put new fuel in the tanks, hoping that would solve the port tank problem. I was able to start her up on the port tank. She ran great in idle. As soon as I brought her up to about 1200 rpm she died. She still runs great on the starboard tank. I'm assuming it is some sort of fuel supply problem. Another thought is the fuel selectors. There are two metal fuel selectors installed in the compartment containing the raw water strainer behind the engine. Please help

Fuel Filter

Had the same problem in Florida a couple of years ago. One tank worked fine and the other would foul the primary fuel filter.Replace that and see if it helps. Good luck.Jeff

Vent??

Morning Colleen:Have you checked the vent for the port tank? These things are sometimes overlooked. If the vent is stopped up, it will create a vaccume in the tank as fuel is used.Start at where the line comes out of the tank and follow it all the way to the engine. There may be an additional filter in the line that you have overlooked. Check and make sure that the selector valves are functioning properly and one of them is not clogged with some of the trash that was in the old tank. There could even be an obstruction in the line itself, take them loose and blow them out. There is going to be a clog somewere and the only way to find it is to start at the tank and work your way out to the engine. Don't forget to check the vent line too.Luck!!

I did not know that the 322 came with dual fuel tanks. I have an '88 model and it has one aluminum tank port side lazerette, 15 gal I think. What year model do you folks have and what are the capacities/location of the tanks?

P.S.According to specifications, the 322 only has one 19 gallon tank.Forgot to log in and couldn't edit my other post!!

Anti-Siphon Valve

Try replacing the anti-siphon valve. They are notorious for problems on any boat. Since you already know you had contaminated fuel, some the the trash may still be preventing proper fuel flow.
