I have a 1982 Universal 5411 diesel. I am not getting any fuel to my bleed valve on the filter nor bleed valve at the fuel pump. Lines are clean, diesel in the tank. Is is hard to change the fuel pump or is there an impeller in the pump which needs to be replaced. Any suggestions??

Fuel pump

I assume when you looked inside the fuel tank the pick up tube was not blocked and the screen clean or removed?

Fuel Pump

Is the fuel pump ticking when you turn the start key? Is the fuel pump piped before or after the Racor (fuel water separator filter)? Have you checked the screen at the bottom of the fuel pump? Is the bleed bolt on top of the secondary filter open? Good idea about the pickup screen in the tank. Changing the pump is not a problem, two hoses and an electrical connection. Find out if it's clogged up first. Napa fuel filter: 610-1051, and the cost as of 11/17/03 is $34.95; it is basically the same as the NAPA 610-1011, but much cheaper. Stu
