fuel problem

My new Beta has performed flawlessly since installation but I seem to
have a fuel delivery problem. After warming up the engine will
throttle back to idle for 5 or 10 anxious seconds then back up to the
regular rpm. For the primary filter i have the old one from the MD6A
and of course the new fine filter on the engine.

suggestions?

Hi Victor

Check all filters adn fuel lines. If you have the pastic keel fuel tank
then thing of having and extra electric lift pumpt between the fuel tank
and the standard mechanical lift-pump.

Steve,
I have the plastic tank, and the (new) electric fuel pump.
But I've been curious as to why there are two pumps in a row.
What problem does the extra electric fuel pump solve? And why only for plastic tanks?
Thanks,
Roy

The plastic fuel tank is very low in the bilge so when you draw fuel out
when the tank is lower then the liftpump will have to lift a long way.
The idea of the electric pump is to help the mechanical pump lift the
fuel over this height (head).

The stainless tanks on the later Vegas were located in the port cockpit
locker and much higher which means the extra electric pump is not
needed.

Steve,
Do you know what years Albin made the switch to stainless fuel tanks?

You can tell, the stainless one is in the port cockpit locker and the
plastic one is in the keel!!!!

- - port st. lucie,fl.
-When installing a new electric fuel pump, I moved it to a bracket
epoxyed to the hull above the fuel tank under the sole. It does a
better job pushing than pulling fuel. I've had no problems with fuel
delivery after that.
