fuel pipe to injection pump on M25XP

Anybody out there ever replaced the injector nozzles on a Universal Diesel? I am trying to remove the fuel pipes from the injection pump and the valve holder wants to turn instead of the flare nut on the pipe. The three valve holders [the nipple that comes out of the top of the pump that you connect each of the fuel pipes that go the the injectors are installed] need to be held still while turning the flare nuts on the fuel pipes. The problem is that they are so close together that I cannot get a box end wrench on it to prevent it from turning.

I’ve used a flare nut wrench on my Perkins engine.

Here is the injector top with the flare nut on top of the injector.

The flare nut wrench fits over the fuel line and is held proud of the bottom nut.

In your case you may need to fit an open end wrench in to hold the bottom nut.

I have one end of the center pipe free so I can fit a box end wrench over both the valve holder and the flare nut. The problem I am having is that the spacing of the three valves is so tight that the wall of the wrench will not fit between them. A thin-wall socket could just barely fit but then you cannot get a wrench on the flare nut.

What I will probably need to do is sacrifice a 19mm box wrench to the special drawer and use the grinder to cut down the wall to make it thin enough to clear the other two valves.

I was thinking the grinder might be your survival. In my experience, I have lost a couple of wrenches to such experimental adventures. Then I discovered the prices of a one-time-use wrench at Harbor Freight.

Hayden, I too have dealt with sacrificial tools. But have you tried an auto parts store to see if they have what you need? Or talked to some shade mechanics who might have some experience? Or tools? While we have 1,800 Catalina 34s with M series engines, I don't recall anyone ever having to report your particular issue, although some have dealt with their injectors.
