Can anyone help? After running my engine for 6 hrs I noticed the drip tray had about a cup full of what looked like fuel and oil mixed together. Has anyone else had this problem? and clues?

Pink fuel, black oil

The fuel should be pink because recreational diesel is dyed that color. This will eminate from the filter/fuel pump area. If the fuel leaked AFTER the fuel pump/filter assembly, there would have been a loss of power. Check the filter to ensure that the gaskets are seated properly. Check your oil level at the dipstick to see if you are loosing oil. Oil ais a bit harder to trace because it can come from several areas. One easy way to start the search is to put an oil absorbing cloth under the engine and see where the drops hit. Then you can backtrack from there.

Fuel leek

Track the fuel leak by running your fingers along the fuel line, following from the primary fuel filter (water separator), to the pump, to the next fuel filter (attached to the engine, at least in my case), to the compression pump, then through the pressure lines, and into the injectors. If the leak is BEFORE the fuel pump, there is potential that air can be sucked into your line. This is because the pump is 'sucking' the fuel from the tank...this sucking action can draw air from anywhere there's a leak in the line. It doesn't take much air to prevent your engine from running... After finding the source of the leak, and repairing it. Make sure you bleed the line of air. Cheers! -j-
