Fuel line connector question

The fuel line connector to my Tohatsu outboard doesn't fit tight to the OB connection. Plus the connection has come loose once or twice.
Should it be up tight to the OB connection or is the slight gap OK? Since the clip has let go a couple of times, should I just replace the connection?

I've had the same problem. I assume you are talking about the fuel hose fitting to the carb? I chose to use a simple plastic wire tie to secure the fit, after trimming the fuel hose to be squared off.

Still got good spring action on the thumb hook? Is the hook deformed where it catches on the post?
