The only solution....
....would be to write everyone you can think of in D.C. and insist that they lift the ethanol mandate from motor fuels.
It was put in place under the false pretense that it would reduce emissions from our cars, but the fact that you will actually burn MORE fuel due to a decrease in fuel economy pretty much offsets any benefits in emission reduction. I know my car get 10-15% worse fuel economy burning the 10% ethanol fuel, so I'm pretty much convinced. Not to mention the harm it does to pretty much every type of engine known to man, which has been widely documented.
Did you happen to notice that the price of corn went sky high at about the same time that your government mandated ethanol content in gasoline? It became more profitable to grow corn for fuel production than for food. It should also be noted that when refiners were mandated to add this garbage to their finished products, they had to provide (or build) infrastructure to make it possible (tanks, pumps, valves, instrumentation, etc.) Guess who ultimately pays for all of that equipment? That's right, you do. Every time you visit the pump.
Thank the lobbyists, they essentially bought the ethanol mandate at your expense.
Thanks for letting me rant, but at least if you didn't know - now you do.
