Fuel Guage Fix
Well, I could be a few things. I replaced both the gage and the sending unit two years ago. Both easy fixes. I'd say about 4 hours time. Before spending money though, try looking at the wiring. That is your most likely culprit. Start behind the engine panel and check to see if there are any loose or damaged connections. If so, try and fix, if not, go to the fuel tank and check the connections there. You should see two wires and a ground attached to the top of the tank. Check these. If the wires are damaged, you can replace them easily. If they look, OK, I'd try replacing the fuel gage first, if no luck and you can, try to replace the original guage and then replace the sending unit. The directions inclosed in the telflex(/) unit are self-explanatory. Finally if that does not work, replace the original gage with the new one and you should be in business. My friend had the boat yard replace both on his new to him '87 C-36. Come to find out, the wiring was too close to the heat exchanger and had melted. Simply replacing the wiring would have fixed the problem. I hope this helps.dave bousquetC-30#5367C'est Sea Bon
