Fuel gauge......

want to replace sending unit in tank.... I pulled both wires off to spec tank depth for new sender (wema). Had wife turn power on and gauge went to full...... I have yet to go to the rear of the panel to see how the gauge is wired but thought I would just ask if any ideas?

Your wires are reversed.

Doesn't matter on 0-100% gauge. Could be cups of liquid.

Standard American 240-33 ohms.
European standard (0-180 ohms)
{0-100%}

American Standard gives you a "live zero" of 240 Ω and is reverse of ES. Therefore it takes power to show 0%.

Note: AS lets you verify that the sender has power by the gauge.

Good idea for back up.

I calibrate my Diesel tank every time if fill up and verify the gauge it working.
Here is how...

Each time I fill my tank, I improve the accuracy and verify gauge is working.
