Fuel fitting on HDPE tank

I need to remove the flexible hose on this fitting on top of my fuel tank. Unfortunately the tank was installed during construction before the boat was closed (Legend 35.5) and this is in a awkward place at the stern of the boat. I do not have access to the 2 stainless collar screws so I can not remove the hose from the fitting. At the base of the metal fitting there is a large nut. Can I remove the fitting from the tank, with the hose attached, by unscrewing this large nut ? I fear that something might fall inside the tank... If anyone has an idea it would certainly help. My project is to replace the rotten plywood under the tank and I would like to move the tank from side to side but the hose is too short so it needs to be removed.

I don't think I'd remove the nut. My approach would be to cut the hose remove the 90 fitting from the tank and then replace the hose and clamps.

Just my opinion based on the picture

If you can not get to the hose clamps now, how do you propose re installing the new hose?

Based on the picture I would not remove the lower nut. As was suggested you might be able to cut the hose and unscrew the elbow, but given that you say you have no access to the clamps, this really looks like it should be left alone.

Maybe splice in new hose farther down stream and leave the existing fitting and inaccessible clamps alone?

If the hose all needs to be removed, I would find/make access first.

Put a small wrench or socket/ratchet on the clamp bolts not a screwdriver. Chief

I agree with the Chief, if you can take that picture, you can get a quarter inch socket on that clamp and take it off. When your knuckles are scrapped and your hand is cramped from reaching into that small space, always remember, if it was easy, any one could do it. :D
good luck

Thanks,
I cut the hose in an accessible location and will re-splice. I have been able to move the thank slightly, about 4" and will have access to use a new hose and clamp (with my newly purchased mini ratchet) for re-installation. Changing this plywood under the tank in a 35.5 is a big job with very limited access.

I find those. 6 in 1 screwdrivers real handy for this. One of the ends with the screwdriver bit removed fits most hose clamps and keeps the clamp from rotating around the hose. Great when you can only get one hand in there.
Looks like someone has been in there though, those clamps do not look factory to me.
