While there are
a lot of Racor primary filters, with plastic inspection bowls, installed in or near engine compartments out there, I would check with your boat insurance company first before installing such a filter in or near the engine compartment. While the possibility of a fire melting the plastic seems slight, the possibility nevertheless exists. If you ever had an engine fire, the last thing you want then is for your insurance company to be a problem with a claim because of a non-approved filter installation.
