Fuel filter

I have a 1980 33 Need to know if anyone can tell me what type of filter/seperator would be on my boat. It is soild brass, unscrews form the top.Has a diamond type shape on the top to put a wrench on, When I unscrew the top and pull it out there is a frame that looks like a filter would slide over, but mine is missing . Engine is a 2QM15. Any help would be appreciated. Tom

we found a similar type of filter on our Hunter 31. The filter inside was almost disolved. We removed and replaced with a Raycor filter and installed it in the engine compartment. Now it can be seen and cleaned as required.
