that filter with the bolt on top may not be screw-on, mine isn't. the bolt holds the canister compressed against a spring with the filter element inside.
yellow teflon tape, rated for natural gas may be ok, but better safe than sorry and skip foriegn material in the fuel system

I completed the installation of the hoses, new Racor 120, and fuel shutoff valves on either side of the separator. The Racor instructions actually called for TFE tape and/or thread sealant. I used one wrap of tape and a dab of white permatex thread sealant. I've run the engine about three hours since and it all seems to be fine. Time will tell.
